Los Vascos

Los Vascos wines blend Lafite tradition with the unique terroir of Chile to create elegant wines that bring exceptional to the everyday. The vision of Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) to expand their estate took them to South America in 1988, becoming the first French viticultural investment in modern Chile. Since then, a comprehensive modernization and investment program has been undertaken, oriented towards the production of fine wine using and adapting the viticultural experiences of Bordeaux and other areas where Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) is present. The vineyard’s own Chardonnay grapes are complemented by a selection of grapes from the Central Valley, which is renowned for its great Chardonnay production.

Varietal Composition

100% Chardonnay

Vintage Notes

The winter started with near-normal precipitation and finished with a rainy, rather cold frost-free spring. Temperatures remained on the low side throughout summer, particularly in January, resulting in slow ripening. Unusual heavy rain occurred during the harvest; however, appropriate strategy and pre-harvest management enabled good quality grapes to be obtained.

The grapes were harvested between March 17th - April 18th. Harvesting was done early in the morning, when the temperatures are low to preserve the grapes’s full potential. After sorting, the bunches were carefully pressed for fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures between 57˚ and 61˚F.

Tasting Notes

Beautiful bright yellow color. The nose is rich in fruit aromas of banana, apricot, gooseberry, physalis, kumquat, and yellow plums, accented by notes of cucumber, yellow bell pepper, and green olives. The mouthfeel is fresh, creamy and buttery. Best served cold, between 50 and 54ºF.
