Noble Tree

Estate Chardonnay 2015

Chalk Hill Ranch

Background

Noble Tree Wines was founded in 2010 to meet the demand for high quality, varietally correct wines at value pricing. The grapes for these wines have been sourced from premium growers in California but increasing demand for Noble Tree Wines resulted in a purchase of two Estate Vineyards, Wickersham Ranch and Chalk Hill – Russian River Valley from which Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Zinfandel are now produced commencing with the 2013 Vintage.
The Vineyard is located in the Chalk Hill – Russian River Valley AVA, in the town of Windsor. Planted in the mid-1970s, the Vineyard is sited in a North-South orientation and is home to 17 acres of old- vine Noble Tree Chardonnay and five acres of old-vine Noble Tree Zinfandel. The vineyard is a classic valley floor site with alluvial soils exhibiting the dry, silty, loamy sand and gravel characteristics of an ancient riverbed and provides a perfect site to produce grapes for high-quality wines with varietal distinction. Produced from grapes grown on vines planted in the mid 1970s on our Estate Chalk Hill Ranch - Russian River Vineyard.

Winemaking

The terroir provides for a compelling expression of Chalk Hill – Russian River Valley Chardonnay at its finest. Malolactic fermentation was limited to 20%. Harvested at 22.5 Brix in early September and fermented in a combination of oak barrels, concrete eggs and stainless steel tanks.

Aged for 9 months in 65% stainless steel, 20% concrete eggs and 15% neutral oak barrels

Tasting Notes

A high-toned richness of citrus and toasted nut that creates a lush and layered nose. The smooth palate offers sweet fruit flavors of green apple and kiwi. Limited malolactic conversion and racing acidity make this a great food pairing wine or is great on its own as an aperitif.
