Noble Tree

Estate Grenache 2014

Background

Noble Tree Wines was founded in 2010 to meet the demand for high quality, varietally correct wines at value pricing. The grapes for these wines have been sourced from premium growers in California but increasing demand for Noble Tree Wines resulted in a purchase of two Estate Vineyards, Wickersham Ranch and Chalk Hill Estate Ranch – Russian River Valley from which Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Zinfandel are now produced commencing with the 2013 Vintage.

Appellation

Russian River Valley, California

Varietal Composition

100% Grenache

Winemaking

The 2014 Grenache is from an Estate site in the middle reach of the Russian River Valley with rocky, sandy loam soils. The clusters were hand-picked, cluster sorted, berry sorted and fermented with 20% whole clusters.

Aged for 10 months in 63% neutral oak barrels and 37% concrete egg tanks.

Tasting Notes

Perfumed aromas of rose water and cherry blossom erupt on the nose. This overly aromatic wine has loud notes of ripe raspberry, strawberry and white pepper. Although this 100% Grenache is lean the palate is rich with warm woodsy red fruit flavors with nice spice and balanced acidity. A tremendous example of an Estate Grenache grown in a cool climate.
