Vintage Notes

The 2014 vintage was very promising with good yields. Springtime was early and the vines profited from the hot and dry weather, which indicated an abundant harvest and healthy vines. The harvest was affected in some places by shatter (when certain flowers do not develop into fruit). On June 28th, the vineyards in Burgundy region were hit by violent hailstorms. The damage was considerable in some places, particularly around the villages of Lugny. Summer was wet and chilly, and maturation began to gain speed at the end of August. The sun returned along with a northerly wind during the first few days of September, providing ideal conditions for optimum ripening and ensuring the grapes remain in good health. Harvest began in mid-September, in the sunshine. The grapes were ripe, healthy and aromatic. Fermentation went off without a hitch, and the warm weather at the end of fall allowed alcoholic fermentation to went off without a hitch, and the warm weather at the end of fall allowed alcoholic fermentation to start immediately in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, and then malolactic fermentation was carried out shortly after.

Winemaking

The grapes are hand and mechanically harvested, then pressed in a pneumatic press. The alcoholic fermentation is carried out in temperature controlled stainless steel vats (constant temperature of 61 to 64°F). The malolactic fermentation is completed at 100% and the wine is matured with its lees in stainless steel vats then bottled in traditional Burgundy bottles.

Tasting Notes

The 2014 vintage is an excellent year for white wines in the Burgundy region. The grapes reached ideal maturity thanks to the September sunshine, resulting in perfectly balanced aromas and structure. On the nose, pleasant notes of white-fleshed fruits, apricot and citrus. The palate is remarkably fresh, lively and tense. A very easy and pleasant wine to drink with your favorite dish or as an aperitif.
